This equipment is the most modern development in GPS available in the world today. Using satellites from both the USA's GPS system and Russia's GLONASS system, these receivers can achieve centimetre-level positions in real time.

To the customer, this means that we can easily and quickly locate property corners – even in snow and wooded conditions. The portability also allows us to conduct large-lot property line retracement surveys in a significantly shorter turnaround than was possible with older total-station field techniques.
A sad day for the survey industry (June 01, 2020)

Sokkia SRX Robotic Total Station

Many people will remember the days when two people were required to conduct a survey: one person stood behind an instrument (like the one shown) and the other walked around the site with a range pole. Together, the two-person team was able to take measurements and set survey markers.

Those days are gone! The current state-of-the-art robotic total station that we own requires only a single person to operate. The surveyor walks around the site with a range pole as before, however, the total station is now capable of taking all measurements without a second operator. This advance has several advantages. Most obvious is the increased efficiency achieved by having a smaller crew. However, it is also important to note that errors are significantly reduced, because there is less chance of an operator disturbing the total station and because the robot's aiming is much more accurate than a human's.
